Fuel scarcity, which has resulted into long queues, is persisting in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
Our correspondent who monitored the situation in the three states said long queues of vehicles were recorded in some of the filling stations in the three states that got the supply of petroleum products.
Long queues were seen when our correspondent visited the two Rano Filling stations in Sokoto, equally at the NNPC station located near the Federal Government College, Sokoto, motorists were seen forming a very long queues to get the product.
Ahmad Kawu, a newspaper agent in Gusau, Zamfara State, who spoke to us on telephone, said the existing filling stations having the product were not finding it easy with long queues at their various stations in Gusau, stressing that the same scenario was existed in the various local government areas across the state.
Likewise, in Kebbi State, our investigation also reveals that long queues are noticed in all the filling stations that got petrol to sell to the public while some filling stations deliberately closed to observe the situation in an attempt to create artificial scarcity and make more profit.
Motorists and commercial motorcyclists who spoke with BusinessDay in Sokoto said they were surprised with this development, noting that for the past two years they had been enjoying adequate/uninterrupted supply of the product, saying just over night the scarcity sprang up.
They therefore appeal to the authority concern to in good time ensure the surplus supply of the product to prevent scarcity, noting that the multiplier effect of the scarcity is that of hardship to both commercial and private car owners in the states.
