Anambra State partners SMEDAN on training young entrepreneurs

EFCC arraigns former Anambra Gov. Obiano on N4bn fraud allegations

The government of Anambra State is partnering with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to equip the youths of the state with entrepreneurial skills such as production of liquid soaps, perfumes, car wash, disinfectants and insecticides.

The assistance given to states through the impartation of such skills would play critical roles in the economic transformation of the nation, director of SMEDAN in the state, Chito Onuzulike, has said that

Onuzulike said this during a three-day training for young entrepreneurs organised by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, in partnership with SMEDAN in Awka on Wednesday.

“We train people that have yet to start up their own businesses or people that are already in business but want to diversify into production of household chemical products,” Onuzulike said.

The programme was held at the Catholic Men’s Organisation Hall (CMO), Regina Caeli Road, Awka, from March 20 to March 22.

She urged the participants to make use of the knowledge imparted in them to make their lives meaningful.

The director also pointed out that the business required very small amount of funding to start up.

Onuzulike stressed that the training would help them to achieve meaningful economic growth, generate employment, reduce poverty and create wealth in the state.

Head of Department SME, Ministry of Trade and Commerce in Anambra, Okwudilichukwu Obiefuna, described the vocational training programme as a step in the right direction.

He stressed that no society could achieve substantial economic growth without a robust manufacturing sector as well as well nurtured Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

He urged the youths to look out for other similar packages mapped out for them by the state government through the Ministry, to support their businesses.

The packages include loan schemes, grants and guide on best business practices.
