Collapsed building: Ambode’s wife condoles victims’ families

Bolanle Ambode

Wife of the governor of Lagos State, Bolanle Ambode has described the collapsed building which claimed about 14 lives, including some school pupils at Ita-faaji area of the state, as sad incident, praying for the repose of their souls.

In a statement signed by her media aide, Folashade Kadiri, Ambode said it was most unfortunate that young pupils in the course of education met such a tragic fate.

According to her, “As a mother I feel pained and sad that little pupils in the course of education should meet such a tragic fate”.

The governor’s wife, who is currently out of the country, noted that sad occurrence like this could be prevented, if property developers adhere strictly to building code and integrity, stressing that lives were too precious to sacrifice for economic gains.

She prayed that God would comfort the families of the deceased children, bring quick recovery for the injured and prevent a recurrence of such fatal tragedy.

Recall that a three-storey building with a pent house on Massey Street, Ita-Faaji, Lagos Island, part of which was located Ohen Nursery/Primary School, caved in on Wednesday, killing scores and leaving several critically injured. Most of the injured persons are still receiving medical attention in different public hospitals, while families are pushing to collect corpses of their loved ones from mortuaries.
