ABC Transport offers 25 percent discount on election travels

As part of its corporate social responsibility, the management of ABC Transport plc, has announced that it will subsidize fares for passengers travelling on its Sprinter and Executive Express Coach services nationwide, for the purpose of travelling to cast their votes on election day.

This move is essentially aimed at encouraging and assisting Nigerian citizens all over the country who would need to travel in order to participate in the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Recall that last week, Nigerians from all over the country travelled en masse to various locations where they registered to vote in the elections which were originally scheduled to hold February 16, 2019 which was abruptly postponed to February 23, 2019, only few hours to commencement of the exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), sighting logistic reasons .

This subsidy applies for travels made between February 22 and 25. A cross section of the travelling public says the magnanimity of ABC Transport Limited, one of Nigeria’s foremost road transport and logistics company is a welcome relief to many travellers nationwide who had already incurred some costs in order to perform their civic responsibility.

With this development, ABC Transport in its traditional manner has stepped up to take a proactive role in this regard as it consistently promotes and supports human, social and community development in the host communities in which it operates.

It has awarded scholarships to undergraduates in Nigerian universities, and also donated luxury buses to enhance learning in the automobile/mechanical engineering departments of some tertiary institutions.

Some of the beneficiaries include the mechanical engineering departments of Lagos State University, Imo State University, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Federal Polytechnic Nekede. This is also in addition to the training models earlier donated to some government technical colleges in Nigeria.

The transport company as also donated classroom blocks to primary schools and continues to support various educational activities and concerns. ABC has a long history of giving moral and financial assistance to individuals, communities, government and non-governmental organizations through numerous sponsorships.

For over 25 years, the company has been providing services in passenger operations, cargo, to over 100 destinations daily from 31 locations including Accra, Ghana. It is quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and also offers hospitality services through its City Transit Inn, hotel in Utako, Abuja.
