The much anticipated 200,000 barrels of oil per day Egina project being executed by Total received a boost as TechnipFMC announced the successful installation of six (6) manifold modules at the field located offshore Nigeria within OML 130.
TechnipFMC says the manifold modules were been manufactured at the Aveon yard in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Benoit Le Bihan, Egina Project Director at TechnipFMC, while speaking about the project said that achieving this milestone is the result of strong collaboration between Total, TechnipFMC and Aveon and extraordinary dedication from each team member involved in the Manifolds scope.
Bihan observed that thanks to their respective weight and integrated functionalities, the manifold modules have reached an unprecedented level of complexity for these types of equipment in Nigeria, making their delivery a key achievement.
According to Bihan, “It secures a major phase of the project, executed in a safe and secure manner. Designed for water-depths of up to 1700 meters, Egina is one of the deepest offshore projects ever executed by Total. With a design life of 25 years, the field is expected to produce up to 200,000 barrels of oil per day, thus contributing up to 10% of Nigeria’s oil output.
It will be operated by Total Upstream Nigeria (24%) in partnership with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), CNOOC, SAPETRO and PETROBRAS.
Construction began in December 2013 when the first steel cutting took place. The foundations of the manifold modules were then delivered in October 2016 and have been successfully installed.
TechnipFMC provides project management, engineering, procurement, and construction for Egina’s entire Subsea Production System (SPS) scope.
