In compliance to the directives of the Acting President, Yemi Osibanjo, the military chiefs have relocated their command and control center to Maiduguri, the Borno Stated capital.
This is in a bid to curtail resurgence of Boko Haram who had in the last two months ,carried out over 90 suicide attacks in the northeast.
The most recent of their attacks,is the ambush and abduction of a team of geologists from the University of Maiduguri, who where on their way to the Lake Chad area for oil exploration.
Recall that the Acting President last week in a closed door meeting, ordered the service chiefs to relocate to the Northeast to address the worsening attacks of Boko Haram.
The Director Defence Information (DDI) Major General John Enenche,in a press briefing in Maiduguri ,said the relocation of the command and control of the military will “give impetus” to the military in the north-east.
“The move is expected to give impetus to the military effort in the north-east.
“Consequently the defence headquarters appeals to the public and the people in the areas affected directly by this negative act of terrorism and criminality to come forward with credible information that will further assist security and response agencies to tackle the menace.
“It is necessary to point out some key information required which include the following:Terrorist sleeper cell locations, Terrorist concentration area and outpost location, collaborators and informants to the terrorists, suspicious habitations and living quarters within rural and urban centers, suspicious and isolated settlements and camps outside normal living areas ” he said.
