The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai, has approved the special promotion of 6,199 soldiers to their next ranks.
The 6,199 promoted are all soldiers currently involved in the battle against BoKo haram in the north east.
Since 2009,the Nigeria Army has been battling to conquer BoKo Haram terrorist group. A battle which has claimed so many lives. Soldiers,indigenes and BoKo Haram members.
In a statement issued by the Director Army Public Relations(DAPR) Brigadier general Sani Usman, those promoted are between Lance Corporals to Warrant Officers in the Nigeria Army.
The promotion which was approved on Tuesday 25th july saw 329 Staff Sergeants moving to the rank of Warrant Officers.
371 Sergeants moved to the rank of Staff Sergeants. While 707 Corporals were elevated to the rank of Sergeant.
Also promoted where 1,290 Lance Corporals to Corporal and 3,502 Privates moved to the rank of Lance Corporals
The COAS while Congratulating the beneficiaries, urged them to increase the tempo of the ongoing clearance operations of the Boko Haram terrorists in the North East.
