In a bid to fulfill its drive to develop potential employees who can meet up with demands of world class organizations, Poise Graduate Finishing Academy (PGFA) has connected over 250 graduates to potential employers in Nigeria through its annual job fair.

Employers from top organizations last week attended job fair with an objective of picking prospective employees-those whose aspirations and attitudes match the organization’s aspirations.

“This job fair is a way for us to meet demands from employers. Employers will interview the candidates and choose the ones they want. Last year’s job fair was very successful and out of 130 grandaunts, over 90 of them got jobs. This year, we have 250students and we hope that at least 200 get jobs. The students may not all get jobs today, but the companies will keep inviting them for job interviews.

“We put our efforts in training students because we know that once an employer sees someone that is impressive, they will take them.  We are very concerned with the quality of graduates we produced. We teach them soft skills and how to polish themselves so that they will do well when they get to the work place. Lots of employers are calling us to say how impressed they are with the quality of graduates we give them,” Ukinedo Dare, CEO, Poise Graduate Finishing Academy said.

According to Dare, this is the second time Poise was organizing the job fair, adding that the organization have partnered with several other organization to make the event a success.

Speaking on job opportunities in Nigeria, she said, “The demand for jobs are always there and people are recruiting entry levels always. Employers are choosy, so it behoove on the graduates to work on themselves and set themselves apart from the multitude. When employers get quality staff, the company will grow and when that happens, they will employ more people.”

Dare said that some of the skills taught in the finishing school include how youths can work on themselves, change their mindset and attitudes and believe in themselves. “We also teach students creativity, problem solving, how to manage your boss and the workplace amongst others.”

James Nwachukwu, a graduate of Eko Bit, a subsidiary of Poise, said that Eko Bit was created to empower youths from slump communities by teaching them digital designs.

“I and my colleagues have learnt a lot on how to design slogans, logos and adverts for many organizations which has been fetching us some income and this was made possible by Eko Bit,” Nwachukwu said.

Abiola Omotayo-Benson, general manager, WorkPlace Centre Limited and the keynote speaker at the work fair taught the graduates to always have an entrepreneurial mindset, which takes personal accountability for success or failures.

Omotayo-Benson also hinted that the youths also need to work with a global mindset, thereby ensuring that they think beyond their current state and become relevant globally.
