Equity investors at the Nigerian bourse gained about N116 billion today.
At the close of trading on the Nigerian stock exchange (NSE) yesterday, thirty-two (34) stocks advanced against 8 losers. With stocks value adding N116 billion, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share Index (ASI) which indicates the market’s benchmark performance increased by 1.28 percent or 337.88 points, while the Year-to-Date (YtD) return stood at -0.44 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 26,756.21 points against the preceding day close of 26,418.33 points, while the equities market capitalisation closed at N9.249 trillion as against preceding day close of N9.132 trillion.
The volume of stocks traded on Tuesday stood at 539.232 million while the total value of stocks traded in 3,519 deals was N2.8 billion.
The financial services sector led the day’s activities chart as FCMB Group saw its 243.863 million shares exchanged for N239.404 million. Zenith Bank Plc followed closely with 52.29 million shares traded for N856.161 million.
Traders exchanged United Bank for Africa Plc 42.526 million shares for N274.508 million; followed by Diamond Bank Plc’s 33.942 million units worth N29.017 million; while First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc’s 22.814 million was valued at N81.346 million.
Dangote Cement Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Oando Plc, Okomu Oil Plc and PZ Plc, topped the gainers list on Tuesday. Dangote Cement Plc recorded a N2.5 kobo increase in share price raising the share price from N159.5kobo at market opening to N162 at market closing.
Nigerian Breweries Plc gained N2 to raise its share price from N130 to N132. Oando’s share price which opened at 7.89 kobo gained 8 kobo to close at N8.69 kobo. Okomu Oil Plc which opened at N47.8 kobo gained 72 kobo to close at N48.52 kobo, while PZ Plc which opened at N15 gained 7kobo to close at N15.7kobo.
On the laggard table, Total Plc led with a N6 loss in its share price which opened at N255 to close at N249. Seven Up Bottling Company Plc’s share price which opened loss N1.89kobo to close at N102. Wapco Plc came third on the list losing N1.1kobo of its share price which opened at N49.6 kobo to close at N48.5kobo. Dangote Sugar Plc also lost 24kobo of its share price which opened at N6.7 kobo to close at N6.46 kobo. Presco Plc lost 1kobo of its share price to which opened N47 to close N46.9kobo.
