Believers’ Love WorldChrist popularly known as Christ Embassy has empowered no fewer than 170 inmates of the Oko medium prison in Benin-City with skills acquisition training.

The inmates were awaiting trail at the prison.

Emmanuel Iyamah, a member of the church who spoke with newsmen said the inmates were taught foundations for life  that will equip them to become better citizens when out of prison.

“The graduands today are already thinking positive, we brought lecturers to teach them entrepreneurs skills .

“Christ Embassy always monitor the graduands (inmates) well being  when they come out of prisons .

“The church even went as far to pay their rent and open a small scale businesses for them ,so that they won’t go back to crime but do the right thing”, he said.

Also speaking the Deputy Comptroller in charge of the Oko prison, Godwin Evboeruan said the skills acquisition training would inspire the graduands to live a positive life.

Evboeruan represented by Deputy Comptroller Amayo Osadiaye noted that the exercise was all about impacting the world of God n them as well as helping them to the realize the potentials blessed them with by God.

According to him, the training would make them to discover the special gift from God which is their talents to better their well being instead of going back to commit crime when they come out.

” We give room to churches or individual who are interested in rehabilitating  the inmates through skill acquisition training and counseling.

“The graduand inmates were taught skills that they would embarked upon when they leave the prison so that they become better citizens.

“With little fund they could established for their daily need with small skill acquisition and small scale businesses .” he stated.

Evboeruan added that the  inmates have been trained on tailoring, making of soap, carpentering among others that they would take into as profession after serving their various jail terms.

He however said that there were inmates who were biological crime oriented, adding that people of such cannot actually change except with Grace of God hence the programme.

He encourage concerned citizens who have training that would make the inmates a better persons in the society after their jail terms to approach the prison authority.
