In line with the current economic thinking in the country, AgroNigeria, Nigeria’s leading agribusiness online portal, has said it will hosts the Feed Nigeria Summit and agricultural awards to promote productivity in the sector and enhance economic growth.
The summit is a key step towards facilitating the engagement of the private sector, as well as all critical stakeholders in the agric sector to develop homegrown solutions to challenges confronting the country’s agriculture.
Supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), Songhai Center for Excellence, Porto Novo, the Home-Grown School Feeding Program Office in the Nigerian Vice-Presidency, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as other critical stakeholders, the summit will address key national agricultural productivity issues like finance, market access, research, infrastructure, mechanisation, and ICT, while ensuring a mainstreaming of gender and other related issues.
The role of legislation in the sector will also be a critical area of engagement.
The summit holds under the theme “Feed Nigeria to Feed Africa”, and remains the first of its kind in Nigeria, and will bring together the crème of the Nigerian Agriculture ecosystem, a melting pot of strategic discussions between government, private sector, development community continental and international players, as well as the research community for the progress of the sector.
Also, Individuals who have performed exceptionally in contributing to the development of the agric sector in the country across various value chains will be celebrated and awarded.
The award which was birthed in 2014 has since been acknowledged as the ultimate medium for celebrating excellence in the agro-allied sphere. Against this backdrop, this year’s NAA promises a thrilling experience.
To this end, the awards has introduced an Agro Essay and project Proposal writing competition for secondary and tertiary institution students respectively, in a bid to inundate youths about the possibilities inherent in the agricultural sector.
The occasions are scheduled to hold on the 6th and 7th of April 2017, at Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
