Olam Nigeria, one of the country’s largest Agribusiness and food companies has recognized some of the company’s employees who have been in service for over a decade. A long service award ceremony was held in recognition and appreciation of these employees who had served in the organisation for 10 years and 20 years respectively.
The company’s action is believed to be consistent with the notion of appreciation being a fundamental human need. Employees respond to appreciation expressed through recognition of their good work because it confirms their work is valued. When employees and their work are valued, their satisfaction and productivity rise, and they are motivated to maintain or improve their good work.
Olam recognised a total of 65 awardees that were acknowledged in both categories (of 10 and 20 years of service).
Mukul Mathur, Olam’s Country Head while giving the opening address at the event expressed his appreciation to the long servers and encouraged them to keep giving their best to the success of the business. He consciously reiterated that “people are core to our business and therefore are our most cherished asset.” They were in turn presented with plaques and gift items.
