Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state has inaugurated a Commission of Inquiry with a mandate to investigating the recent crisis involving Yoruba and Hausa communities in Ile Ife.
It will be recalled that a total of 46 people reportedly lost their lives in the crisis that occurred on 8th March in Sabo, Ile-Ife, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Performing the inauguration, Governor Aregbesola, said the primary purpose the commission would serve is explicitly stated in section 14 (2)b of the 1999 constitution (as amended).
Aregbesola added that peace, being one of the cardinal points of six-point of integral action of his administration, his administration would continue to enhance communal peaceful co-existence between host communities and visitors to the state.
BusinessDay reports that the Commission has four weeks to submit its report on the mayhem.
Responding, the chairman of the commission, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, called for cooperation of all parties to the crisis for the commission to be able to come up with lasting solutions that would prevent future recurrence of such an incident.
