Beneficiaries of the federal government N-Power programme in Egor and Uhunwode local government areas of Edo State on Friday protested over the non-payment of their two months salaries.
The protesters who are under N-teachers and N-health of the scheme said they have not been paid December and January salary.
The protesters were armed with placards of various inscriptions like, “N-Power in Egor need their December and January stipends, who is Edo focal person? N-Power N-Power enough is enough”. Pay us now among others.
The spokesperson for the protesters, Osin Friday said the protest was to draw the federal and state governments to their plights.
“Were are N-Power beneficiaries in Egor and Uhunwode local government employed in December 2016 after proper documentation but we are now in February yet we have not been paid our salaries,” he said
Friday who teaches in Egor secondary school lamented that other beneficiaries of the scheme in other local governments in the state have been paid December and January salary.
Also speaking, Ibude Christopher said they decided to protest to the NUJ because they don’t know where to channel their grievances to as they have not been able to locate the state focal persons.
“We don’t know the state focal person so that we channel our grievances to. Some people are saying we have issues with our bank account but we are receiving money through the account from other people. We want you to help us so that both the state and the federal government would be aware of our predicaments,” he stated.
