The Sokoto State Ministry of Animal Health and Fisheries Development plans to generate about N120 million revenue this year.
The Commissioner, Tukur Alkali, made the disclosure at a meeting with the Sokoto State House of Assembly Committee on Animal Health on Friday in Sokoto.
He said the ministry had planned to generate huge revenue last year but failed to do so because of the prevailing recession.
“The government is committed to improving internally-generated revenue in all sectors of the economy.
“This will enable government to create more employment opportunities for the teaming population across the 23 Local Government Areas in the state.’’
The commissioner disclosed that the government had established a committee to ascertain the state of the Sokoto abattoir with a view to generating more revenue.
The Assembly Committee Chairman, Mode Sanyinna (APC- Tambuwal East), said the meeting was convened to dialogue on ways to generate additional revenue for the state.
