Anchor Insurance ltd  has announced a donation of N5 million in support of the Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Programme (FEYReP), the pet project of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s wife which aims to provide assistance to women and children in Akwa Ibom State.
 
Elijah Akpan, chairman, board of directors of the company who presented the donation lauded the Governor’s wife for the life changing programmes being embarked upon through FEYReP – provision of shelters and clothing for widows, orphans and the socially disadvantaged, said that identifying with the needy is  a virtue.
 
Describing the services provided by the organisation as selfless,  Akpan, who is also the  Chairman of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), said they were proud of her and had, therefore, come to identify with and partner FEYReP in ways that would further bring growth to the people.
 
Pledging their commitment to any further requirement for the success of the programme, the Chairman told his hostess that Anchor Insurance had been certified by the State Executive Council as the primary insurance services provider for Akwa Ibom State Government.
While pledging the company’s continued loyalty to the  State Government, Akpan used the opportunity to express  appreciation to the State Governor, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for the premier status granted the company.
Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anchor Insurance,  Ademayowa Adeduro, said  the company is floating medical insurance scheme for as low as N2000 premium per annum, to be enjoyed by accident victims – and  could be bought into by peasants, low income earners and locals.
Others  product include Loss of employment Income Insurance in which, according to the MD, the insured on loss of employment continues to receive the same salary he was earning while working, for up to  two years; Vehicle Insurance, which is for motorists and keke operators, among others.
 
Receiving the N5 million cheque on behalf of FEYReP , the Governor’s wife    expressed appreciation to the company for the gesture.
She described the gift as being   timely, saying that it would help put smiles on the faces of the less-privileged in this season of the Yuletide.
The First Lady expressed happiness on the many products that  the  Insurance company was floating and enjoined them to create awareness so as to enlighten women groups and  the generality of Akwa Ibom people.
She  also pledged the readiness of her organisation to partner Anchor Insurance Company Ltd with the aim of ensuring that the people of the State benefitted from the schemes.
