Adepeju Adebajo, Managing Director, Geocycle and Project Management Office, Lafarge Africa was on Thursday screened as Commissioner-nominee by Ogun State House of Assembly.
Adebajo was screened by Suraj Adekunbi-led Ogun State House of Assembly, having received her name earlier from Governor Ibikunle Amosun with a charge to bring her wealth of experience from the private sector to bear in the promotion of good governance in the State.
Olakunle Oluomo, Deputy Speaker, who presided over the screening in the absence of the Speaker the State declared that the state parades the best in virtually all sectors of the nation’s economy who are expected to contribute massively to socio-economic development of the State as the current situation requires dedicated individuals with varied experience like Adebajo.
Adebajo, who came to Lafarge Africa in 2014 as Chief Executive Officer, WAPCO Cement Operations, holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) from the Imperial College of Science & Technology, London; a Master of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) from the University of London; and a Master of Business Administration, Harvard University, Boston.

Prior to her appointment in Lafarge Africa, she had served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Mouka Limited, having served previously as Chief Executive Officer at the UTC Nigeria Plc, where she successfully turned the business around.

An indigene of Ikenne in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun state with over 30 years work experience, formerly headed strategic planning, brand management and product development at the United Bank for Africa, having had management consulting experience at Boston Consulting Group and financial analysis experience at Citibank both in the United Kingdom.

Responding to questions during the screening, Adebajo noted that the State was endowed with agricultural and mineral  resources that would be tapped to further develop it to be the best among its peers.

She however, pledged to uphold proficiency and quality service delivery as well as evolve more strategies towards contributing her quota to the socio-economic development of the State when confirmed and appointed.
BusinessDay reports that Adebajo, who will be sworn in as 21st Commissioner in Governor Amosun’s Executive Cabinet, may be deployed to the State Ministry of Agriculture which has been vacant since the governor had re-deployed Ronke Sokefun, former Commissioner for Agriculture to the Ministry of Physical and Urban Planning in minor cabinet reshuffle in October.
