The equities market on Monday closed on sustained losses from the previous week as the benchmark index (NSEASI) pared 0.06% to close at 25,318.41 (25,333.39 Friday). This placed YTD return at  -11.60%.

With regards activity levels, results were mixed. In 2,558 deals (2,459 Friday), volume of transactions advanced by 40.42%, while market turnover declined by 24.64%.

Investor sentiment remained low at the close of trade with market breadth resting at 0.4x on the back of eight gainers and twenty two losers.

Leading the gainers chart was MOBIL, which gained 5.00% to close at NGN219.41. The oil & gas player was trailed by ETERNA (+4.56%), FIDSON (+4.29%), FIDELITYBK (+3.80%) and ETI (+3.16%).

Capitalization as such dipped from 8.720trn  Friday to 8.715trn Monday.

As for the converse chart, FO (-5.00%) declined the most, closing at NGN59.66 while being trailed by UACN (-5.00%), UAC-PROP (-4.86%), AFRIPRUD (-4.79%), and OANDO (-4.76%).

Analysis by sector using the NSE-Sector indices, showed all indices declined for the day, with the exception of the NSEBNK10 which gained 0.24%. NSEINS10, NSEOILG5, and NSEFBT declined by 1.10%, 0.42% and 0.01% respectively, while NSEIND was unchanged.
