A Chieftain of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Jeddy Agba, has distributed seventy six motor cycles to seventy six electoral wards in the seven local government areas of Southern Senatorial District in Cross River State,

Performing the ceremony at the weekend, the Acting State Chairman of the Party in the state, John Ochala said the exercise was born out of the desire to bridge the gap of the various wards in mobilising their members in party activities. Ochala said in the past, it has always been lack of finance in holding party meetings and challenged the beneficiaries to use it for the purpose of which it was meant to achieve.

Ochala, who represented Agba said: “Today, we have one of our leaders doing this wonderful gesture and empowerment to our chapter chairmen in all the wards in Southern Senatorial District having done similar exercise in Central and Northern Senatorial Districts of the state.” He appealed to other party faithful to emulate the kind gesture exhibited by the wonderful show of love for the party.

Earlier in his welcome address, the South-South Chairman of the Party, Victor Okon, said for 16 years the party has been in opposition and had not seen something like this before and appealed to the beneficiaries not to sell the bikes because according to him this empowerment is for the growth of the party.

He also appealed to the various wards to hold regular meetings at their constituencies to enhance the party chances in the forth-coming local government elections and the expected Supreme Court pronouncement over the legal tussles of Ayade candidacy expected to be delivered on December 9th.

One f the beneficiaries Uwem Bassey of Calabar South thanked the donor for empowering the youth through the bikes as this will go a long way in mobilising them ahead of the local Council polls.
Bassey Bassey of Odukpani Local Government Area also commended the donor for coming to the aid of the party, saying it was the first time the party was doing this kind of empowerment.
