The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Eastern Zone, has promised to complement Federal Governments efforts at ensuring safety of pipelines in the zone.
Udo Alozie, zonal chairman, IPMAN, Eastern zone, who made the promise at the zonal meeting of the association, held in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, also revealed that Enugu depot will soon begin to receive products, following ongoing rehabilitation of pipelines from Aba to Enugu depot, by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
He promised to collaborate with the NNPC, leaders and youths of pipeline-host communities, the police, and vigilante groups to ensure that the pipelines remain safe after its rehabilitation.
He commended Federal Government’s effort at ensuring availability of products in the country, and assured that the entire Eastern zone, would not experience scarcity of products this yuletide, as there is availability of products to last the entire season.
According to him, people hoard products when there is scarcity, but for some time now we have not seen marketers in the zone, selling products above approved pump price, and even some stations are selling below approved pump price, because there is availability of products.
“And when products are available, no right thinking person, would hoard products, bought with bank loan. You have to sell to make profit and payback the loan”.
He revealed that IPMAN is expecting products within the yuletide that would be distributed nationwide.
Present at the meeting were Chinedu Okoronkwo, national President IPMAN, Abubakar Sherif Usman, chairman, board of Trustees (BOT) of IPMAN and the depot chairmen and secretaries of the five depots that make up the Easter zone of IPMAN. The depots are Aba, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Enugu and Makurdi.
