The National Council of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has appointed Segun Joseph Ajayi-Kadir as the acting director-general of the association.
Ajayi-Kadir replaces Remi Ogunmefun who resigned on August 15.
A native of Ogidi, Ijumu in Kogi State, Ajayi-Kadir holds Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, and Master’s Degree in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The new DG is coming at a point the manufacturing sector is facing its worst crisis, caused by rudderless policy direction and foreign exchange crunch.
The Kogi State born expert started his professional career in 1991 at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) as an administrative officer, after which he joined MAN in 1994 as secretary of Kaduna branch.
In 2002, he was transferred to Lagos to head the Ikeja branch of MAN, a position he held till 2009 when he was promoted to superintend MAN Abuja liaison office as an assistant director and later director.
In February 2015, he was redeployed to MAN headquarters as director of field services, till August 31 when he was appointed acting DG.
Ajayi-Kadir is currently serving on several government boards such as Tariff Technical Committee (Federal Ministry of Finance); and National Council on African Peer Review Mechanism (NEPAD), among others.
He has undergone a series of training from notable organisations such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Pan-African University (Lagos Business School), the Centre for International Private Enterprise, Washington D.C, USA, and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
