Information technology (IT) brands have taken top spots in the recently released 2016 Interbrand’s best global brands report. Apple, the technology company that leads innovation with their products and software platforms was ranked at number one most valuable brand. Its brand value increased by 5 percent from 2015.
Apple is closely followed by Google in the number two spot with a brand value increase of 11 percent to $133,252 million. Microsoft is number 4 with 8 percent growth and IBM, Samsung and amazon in the 6th, 7th and 8th positions respectively.
With 48 percent increase in brand value, Facebook is seen as the top growing brand in the report. Huawei, the global smartphone com company moved up sixteen spots from its ranking in 2015 and has been ranked 72nd in this year’s report.
This is the second consecutive year Huawei has risen on the Interbrand’s list since the company became the first mainland Chinese brand to be recognised as a Best Global Brand in 2014. Its brand value increased b y 18 percent compared to a year ago.
