Zambia elections: Only female candidate says election ‘predetermined’

Zambians are eagerly waiting for the election results, so are journalists who have camped at the election results centre in Lusaka.

Edith Nawakwi, the only female candidate in the presidential race, is reported to be presently at the venue where she is also waiting for the results.

She’s told BBC reporters that some results have been altered and described the outcome of the elections as “predetermined”.

The main opposition candidate – Hakainde Hichilema – has also alleged that there are problems.

The electoral commission has urged people to be patient as they wait for the results.
