A Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that it will continue with the hearing on the case against the chairman of Daar Communications Limited, Raymond Dokpesi in four months time.
The trial judge, Justice James Tsoho adjourned the matter to October 19, 2016 after the defense counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe told the court that the prosecution was absent in court.
Adedipe said his team’s lead counsel, Wale Olanikpekun informed him that he would not be in court because the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs SAN had written to say he had another matter before a different court.
Adedipe further prayed the court for a long adjournment to enable the prosecution “put his house in order”.
He also said the court should put into consideration the forthcoming court’s vacation in its adjournment.
Dokpesi trial have been severally stalled at the instance of the prosecution.
The last before this particular adjournment was on April 28 due to the absence of Jacobs.
Dokpesi, a media mogul is standing trial on a six-count charge of fraud and money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He is alleged to received N2.1 billion from the office of the national security adviser.
