Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo Univer‎sity (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state has appointed Ayobami Taofeek Salami, an alumnus of the great university of Ife as the new Vice-Chancellor, who will pilot the affairs of the Nigeria’s first generation university for another five years.
Salami, a professor of Science Laboratory replaces Bamitale Omole, another professor from Obafemi Awolowo University, whose tenure ends on June 23rd,‎ 2016.
Confirming the appointment of Ayobami Salami to BusinessDay on phone in Ile-Ife on Tuesday, Abiodun Olanrewaju, the director of Public Relations of the institution ‎said that the former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) was appointed by the University’s Governing Council on Monday, having performed brilliantly in the series of interviews conducted for the candidates shortlisted.
Salami, the former director, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, graduated with Bsc at the institution ‎in 1986 and earned Masters degree in 1989, as well as PhD in 1990.
