The fifth edition of the Lagos International Food and Beverage Fair (LIFBF) has been scheduled to hold  in June at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
“The Lagos International Food and Beverage Fair is a four day trade event designed to promote the food and beverage industry, establish business networks and close the gap between the producers and the final consumer, while also improving the economy,” says Imani Media International, organisers of the food fair.
Tagged “The Food Shopping Festival“, the event’s organisers anticipate it to deliver not only the best from over 100 brands, 15,000 products but also top of the line made in Nigeria food stuff.
Last year, the fair attracted about 20,000 visitors and trade buyers from all over the world. “With an enhanced content for 2016, we hope to benchmark 25,000 participants and visitors minimum from Nigeria and around the world”, said Khadijat Tebun, COO of Imani.
According to Imani International,  the food fair comes at a great time in Nigeria. Coincidentally, the shift of focus from an oil dependent economy to other sectors such as agriculture has brought in a lot of events into the industry, hence the choice of a 2016 theme which emphasises ‘Food Security’.
This year, the Fair will hold in partnership with the Nigerian Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW); a network for promoting women entrepreneurs led by Edobong Akpabio.
Organisers have scheduled seminars and workshops to enlighten the new breed of entrepreneurs during the fair.  Participants will also be able to source for new suppliers, gather market information, and look for new distribution channels, networking and procurement opportunities.
The LIFBF aims to establish a business connection between Nigeria and the world in general.
“The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, Consumer Protection Council, NAFDAC, NACCIMA and Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry which are our supporting partners have always been there for us. We hope to have more from the Banking, Insurance and Technology sectors join us this year”, said Akpabio of NNEW.
The Lagos International Food and Beverage Fair is expected to bring manufacturers in direct contact with their consumers, and to also provide opportunities for small entrepreneurs to get educated and informed through the various workshops to be held at the venue by the participating regulatory authorities.
