Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) on Monday ordered the commissioner of finance, education, housing and urban development and environment to appear before it on Wednesday over the financial implication of the newly established, Edo University, Iyamho.

BusinessDay reports that the commissioners are to explain the financial implication of the expenditure spent so far by the state government on the Edo University, Iyamho.

Speaker of the House, Victor Edoror made the announcement during the plenary session. The university is established at Iyamho, the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole’s village.

The House had in the consideration of the 2016 budget proposal estimates presented to it by the state governor approved the sum of N1.2 billion for the Edo University, Iyamho.

The House summon may also not be unconnected with the recent tuition fees released by the institution’s management, making it the highest tuition charging public tertiary institution in the country.

A circular by the school authorities captioned, “Edo University, Iyamho, Edo State: Schedule of School Fees for 2016/2017 Academic Session for 100 level” reeled out the breakdown of the tuition fees.

Students for Accounting and Computer Science courses are to pay tuition fees of N710,000, while those in all other courses are to pay N660,000, respectively.
