Procter & Gamble as part of capacity building drive targeted at the brightest and highest performing university undergraduates who desire to sharpen their skills in readiness for the job market has launched its 2016 CEO Academy programme in Lagos.
The programme comprises a mix of trainings and case study sessions. The participating students are to be given the opportunity to learn from senior P&G leaders, and amass skills they need to compete in the job market.
“P&G values and invests in mentoring, coaching and providing a wide range of development training to ensure our people have the skills to grow as business leaders,” said George Nassar, the Managing Director for P&G Nigeria in a statement made available by the company.
“It is important to attract, develop and retain the best talent from top universities in Nigeria. We espouse this tradition within the company as well, by ensuring that give our employees the opportunity to succeed in a variety of roles at the company, so that they can find the role best suited to their talents… Most of the P&G employees start at an entry level position, and then progress through the organisation.” He said.
The participating students are expected to build mentoring relationships on which they can leverage in their employment path.
Chisom Obiora, P&G’s Talent Practice Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa elaborated on the programme, saying, “P&G endeavours to select the best and the brightest talent in Nigeria.”
“Talent development is key here at P&G; not only for our business growth, but also as a means for us to properly ensure that we can demonstrate our commitment to growth and development of our human capital resources,” Obiora added.
This initiative is designed to give the world-class P&G working experience to these students in their academic environments, through professional training and development and exposure to mentorship opportunities with senior company leaders.
