Operatives of Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command, said on Wednesday that N7.5 million ransom had been recovered from a gang of kidnappers who abducted a 35-year-old woman (name withheld) around Ejinrin area in Ijebu-Ode, just as they arrested two members of the gang and other nine suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and oil pipelines vandals.

Parading the suspects at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) headquarters, Magbon in Abeokuta, Abdulmajid Ali, Ogun State commissioner of police, said the suspects were arrested in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode, saying the suspected kidnappers abducted the 35-year-old woman and had already collected N7. 5 million as ransom before police swung into action.

According to Ali, two members of the gang, Gbenga Taiwo and Femi Nejo, were arrested while others were at large, adding that Nejo had confessed to series of kidnapping around the area, including abduction of three people who include – One Ismaila, Baba Yellow and Dele Eleja.

While speaking on the vandals, he said four suspects had been arrested while others were reported to have bolted, saying the command recovered some items from the suspects, which include 50 pieces of 50-litre Jerry cans fully loaded with petroleum products as well as operational vehicle with registration number Lagos KTU 64XB.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old secondary school student, Raimi Fatai, was reportedly killed in Abeokuta following alleged usage of unknown liquid substance on him by his three classmates (two from same school and the other from other public school) during a ritual process.

Findings showed that Fatai and his classmates had engaged in money-making rituals, having followed one of his classmates, a son of a native doctor who gave the deceased and another the substance. But, Fatai, who later fell ill after taking the substance, died two days later while the second victim, was taken to hospital for medical attention.
