Hagler Okorie, commissioner for Youth Development and Bonnie Iwuoha, commissioner for Information and Strategy, Abia State, have joined other Abians to applaud the Supreme Court judgment that upheld the election of Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, (PhD) as the genuine elected Governor of Abia State.
The stakeholders in different interactions with BusinessDay, described the judgment as victory for all Abians.
Haggler Okorie, commissioner for Youth Development, Abia State, said that the victory has saved the social unity and cohesion of the State.
According to him, “By this judgment, which has ended all litigations, Abia State will experience rapid growth and infrastructural development”.
For Bonnie Iwuoha, commissioner for Information and Strategy, Abia State, Ikpeazu’s victory at the Supreme Court is a confirmation that he was divinely chosen by God to bring succor to a people, who had yearned for better living standards, especially in the area of infrastructure provision and general new lease of life.
He stated that roads in Aba and other parts of the State, are already wearing an enduring new look, stressing that the Supreme Court, justified the overwhelming decision of majority of Abia electorates, who elected Ikpeazu,  into office, as their Governor.
He said the development marks a new dawn in Abia State, characterised by equity, fairness and justice. In his words, “Every part of the State has been given genuine sense of belonging. The Supreme Court judgment nailed the coffin of relegation and discrimination, which the hard working and very patriotic people of Ukwa la Ngwa in Abia State were subjected to since the creation of the State in 1991.
Meanwhile, Ikpeazu, has described his victory as “an impetus for more work and more service to the people of Abia State and Nigeria.”
Addressing Abia people at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, shortly after a brief prayer session, Ikpeazu, commended the people, for their steadfastness and support.
He stated that he needed to get out of the distractions of legal tussles, so that he can focus his attention and channel all his energies on service delivery.
He thanked the Supreme Court for giving him the impetus to continue with his revolution of rebuilding the state. Ikpeazu said: “To those who battled us, because we are Christians, we have forgiven them. We want them to consider Abia first. This is God’s project and that is why no matter how wealthy you are, you cannot battle God”.
