Over 5000 Edo residents to benefit from UBTH’s free medical services

No fewer than 5000 residents of Udo community in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State are targeted to benefit from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UNIBEN) free medical services.

The residents are to benefit from the free medical services scheduled to take place at the UBTH Comprehensive Health Centre (CHC) located in the community.

Idia Ize-Iyamu, chief medical director of the teaching hospital, disclosed this while playing audience to the management of the Independent Television (ITV) and Radio in Benin City.

Ize-Iyamu, who described the teaching hospital as among the top hospitals in the country added that it was equipped to deliver world-class healthcare services to all Nigerians, irrespective of their financial status.

She said as part of her “UBTH CARES” Mantra which is aimed at ensuring quality healthcare delivery for patients, the hospital has

organised numerous free cataract surgeries and provided subsidised dental care, among other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

According to her, we are committed to providing quality and affordable healthcare services to the workforce.

“We welcome you for coming to us. We will take care of your health needs since you have asked. We will look at your health needs and see what we can do,” she said.

Earlier, Elvis Obaseki, managing director of Independent Television and Radio, said the visit was to seek collaboration with the hospital for medical outreach aimed at supporting 179 ITV and Radio staff members.

Obaseki assured that the media house would support the hospital’s efforts in promoting its activities.
