INEC to Ondo residents : Register before July deadline, your PVCs will be ready before 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have assured Ondo State residents that, their permanent voters cards, PVCs will be ready before 2027 general election. The commission in the same spirit urges all eligible voters in Ondo State to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the July 26 deadline for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, made the appeal on Wednesday while monitoring the third phase of the extended CVR exercise across the state.

Agboke visited registration centres, including the INEC Registration Centre along Oda Road in Akure, St. Anthony RCM Primary School, Araromi Akure, and St. Stephen Anglican Primary School in Idanre Local Government Area.

The REC stressed that eligible citizens who fail to register before the deadline would be denying themselves the opportunity to participate in future elections.

“In Nigeria, we have a way of saying INEC has disenfranchised us. If you are aware of this campaign and willingly choose not to register, it is not the best for you.

“You have deliberately disallowed yourself from participating in the coming election.

“One thing that makes you eligible to participate in the election is having your name and particulars in the register of voters,” he said.

Agboke expressed satisfaction with the level of participation in Ondo State and encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the remaining days of the registration exercise.

He also assured those who had registered, as well as those who would complete their registration before the deadline, that their Permanent Voter Cards would be ready ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I am assuring those who have registered and those who will do so before Sunday that their PVCs will be ready before the 2027 general election,” he said.

Speaking during the exercise, the OluAyede of Odo-Ala, Oba Bakare Jimoh, commended INEC for the smooth conduct of the registration process.

The traditional ruler said he visited the commission’s office to transfer his voter registration from Akure South to Akure North Local Government Area.

Also, Mrs Oluwatosin Rachael Akinde, a resident of Idanre, praised the commission, describing the registration process as seamless.

“I came to transfer my card because where I live now is far from where I used to live, and I don’t want to miss the general elections. I will cast my vote for my preferred candidate.
