Rank, an integrated financial services and wealth management platform, has launched three new community-powered financial services products – Money Circles, Tribe and Perks, designed to dismantle structural barriers to wealth creation for young Africans.
By tapping into the trust networks that already exist and new trust networks underpinned by cutting-edge digital security and verification, these new products make it easier for young Africans to access zero-interest capital to support their entrepreneurial and personal ambitions.
Africa is home to the youngest workforce in the world, yet even its formal wage earners face a steep challenge accessing capital. Traditional banks reject up to 80 percent of consumer loan applications due to strict collateral requirements, such as land titles or assets worth up to 150 percent of the loan value, that young professionals early in their careers often cannot meet.
As a result, many are forced into predatory digital lending apps with triple-digit interest rates, while others rely on workplace salary advances that strain HR departments. However, this same demographic weight presents an unprecedented opportunity: the collective power to organize, pool resources, and capture economic opportunities at scale.
Rank’s mission is built on the belief that human connection is the greatest leverage. Its technology-enabled products empower young Africans – salary earners or self-employed – to leverage their demographic weight and digital fluency to access wealth-creation opportunities that were previously out of reach. Rank has built a money app for communities – not just individuals – to manage and grow their money together.
Over the past 12 months, the company has paid out more than $100 million to users across various communities, and these new products build directly on that momentum, institutionalizing communal trust and lowering the barrier to entry for high-yield wealth accumulation.
Starting in Nigeria, Rank is rolling out a suite of products designed to redefine how wealth is built on the continent. At the core of Rank’s new offerings are three flagship community-powered financial services products:
Money Circles is a modern, safer version of traditional group savings such as Ajo, Esusu and Rotational Savings and Credit Associations (ROSCAs). Users can access zero-interest capital by joining a circle and committing to monthly contributions. When their slot arrives, they receive an agreed lump sum and continue making their regular contributions, paying only a fixed service fee based on their payout position.
To eliminate risk, Rank guarantees the full payout even if a member defaults – offering a stress-free alternative to paper-based group savings, traditional debt and predatory loan apps. Money Circles are open to anyone and users must complete Rank’s KYC process to access the product.
Tribe is a financial group built for existing networks of trust. Users can create a private group with family, friends or colleagues to collaborate on shared financial milestones, whether saving toward a collective goal or running private group savings with rotating cash payouts.
Users can also transfer their existing group savings from WhatsApp and other platforms. No more awkward messages or chasing anyone for money. Every single contribution and payout is fully transparent and logged in real-time within the ecosystem. There is no service fee for Tribe.
Rank Perks integrates financial wellness directly into payroll. Employers can offer staff access to two powerful zero-interest capital products: salary-backed credit and company-wide savings circles.
Repayments and contributions are automatically deducted from monthly salaries based on verified data. This eliminates predatory lending risks and HR salary advance requests, while automating wealth creation for employees before their paycheck even hits their main account.
Commenting on the new products, Femi Iromini, CEO and Co-founder of Rank, said “For generations, Africans have relied on communal financial structures to build wealth and acquire assets. We are bringing these trusted traditions into the modern age by layering cutting edge technology, solving structural trust issues and turning collective financial habits into a modern, institutional-grade engine for generational wealth. By combining our cultural heritage with digital-first security, we are giving young Africans the collective leverage they need to outpace inflation and securely build long-term equity.”
Alongside its flagship community products, Rank is also launching a suite of essential financial tools, including an everyday bank account for basic financial transactions, digital handles for seamless in-app interactions, and flexible or locked savings options, designed to help users effortlessly manage, protect and grow their money.
Rank is Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-licensed, with banking services provided through Rank Microfinance Bank, meaning user funds sit in a licensed, regulated financial institution rather than an unregulated wallet.
