Osun 2026: INEC announces commencement of PVC collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

The exercise, which will run in two phases, is targeted at eligible voters who registered, applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

In a statement issued on Monday by Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, said PVCs would first be distributed across the state’s 332 Registration Areas from July 22 to July 28 before the exercise shifts to INEC Local Government Area offices from July 29 to August 7.

She said the collection will take place daily, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Babalola also said uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises would be available during the distribution period, urging eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise ahead of the governorship election.

“The Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day,” the statement read.

The commission warned that PVC collection is strictly personal, stressing that collection by proxy would not be permitted under any circumstances.

She added, “INEC remains committed to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive, and transparent Governorship Election in Osun State.

“For further enquiries, members of the public are encouraged to visit the nearest INEC Local Government Office or contact the Osun State INEC Office through its official communication channels.”
