Kwara distributes learning materials to 127 students

The Kwara State Government has distributed learning materials to 127 newly admitted students of Government Technical College, Ilorin for the 2025/2026 academic session, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education across the state.

The intervention was funded by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

Lawal Olohungbebe, commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, stated this during the distribution ceremony in Ilorin, disclosing that the intervention reflected Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s commitment to developing skilled manpower through sustained investment in technical and vocational education,

Olohungbebe, who was represented by Victoria Ajide, director, Human Capital Development, said the materials would improve learning, support practical training as well as prepare students with skills required for employment, entrepreneurship and national development.

Sulaiman Abdulrafiu, the Principal of the College, described the intervention as the first of its kind in the institution and a major boost to teaching and thanked the Governor for facilitating the programme, while commending the federal government for supporting technical education in Kwara State.

Speaking for parents, Hadi Asileke, described the intervention as timely and beneficial to students pursuing technical and vocational education.

He urged beneficiaries to use the materials responsibly and appealed for improved workshops, classrooms and modern equipment to strengthen practical training.

Each beneficiary received uniforms, workshop kits, identity cards, textbooks, exercise books, drawing materials, calculators, mathematical sets and refunded Parent Teacher Association charges.

Education officials, parents, community leaders, teachers and students attended the ceremony, reaffirming shared commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational education in Kwara.
