Quick Money Syndrome is seen to be pushing some Nigeria youths away from God into destruction. This is revealing in the trending case of two young persons, one a 40-year old married man and the other, a 20-year-old young girl. Both connected online on issue of monetization but ended up in physical destruction.

Several videos recorded and posted online by 40-year-old Ifeanyi Ogbonna, a content creator popularly known as ‘Odogwu Asaba’ have continued to surface since the news of the death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, a nursing student, who hailed from Ughelili North LGA of the state, went virile.

Ogbonna, a father of two children, was arrested following allegations that he raped Favour who later died by sūicidè.

Favour had reportedly contacted the content creator after seeing his online advert promising to train aspiring creators on how to monetize T!kT0k and Facebook pages. Believing it was an opportunity to build a career in content creation, she travelled to Asaba for the training.

According to the petition before the police, Favour had reportedly told the suspect that she was a vîrgín and made it clear she was not interested in any romantic or sexual relationship. Despite this, it is alleged that the suspect lured her to a hotel in Asaba, where he allegedly rapêd and physically assaulted her, leaving her with injuries.

After returning home to Warri, Favour reportedly confided in her family and her twin sister, recounting the ordeal she had allegedly experienced. Activists claimed she struggled emotionally after the incident and was unable to get the help she desperately needed.

Bright Edafe, Delta Police spokesperson, said Favour later recorded a video in which she detailed the alleged assault and the emotional trauma she suffered. According to the police, she subsequently ingested a toxic substance in an apparent sûic!de attempt and later died despite efforts to save her.

Following a petition, Yemi Oyeniyi the Commissioner of Police (CP), ordered an immediate investigation. Operatives of the Area Command in Effurun arrested Ogbonna, who is currently in police custody. Police say Ogbonna has made useful statements, while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.

As at Friday evening, reports had it that Ogbonna had admitted to the crime and was begging to settle the parents of Favour but some Nigerians including right activists who are interested in justice for Favour have begun raising funds for the legal matter and to ensure Ogbonna do not buy justice with his money.

Favour’s parents were said to be ready to collect N7 million they claimed they borrowed and spent at the hospital to save her life but concerned Nigerians and netizens viewing that poverty and lack of money were reason for such choice, are out to fight and ensure Ogbonna face the full weight of the law.

People continue to dig out Ogbonna’s past videos to reveal his reckless lifestyle. One of such videos include the one in which he stated that since he stopped going to church 10 years ago, his life began to sweet him. That since he stopped associating with his pastor that was always reminding him to come church, he has been enjoying his life. That then, any time he didn’t want to go to church, the pastor would be telling him things that will make him think he will go to hell-fire. “Since I rescued my mindset, my life, my body, my soul from going to church, that was the time my life began to change.” According to him, he cancelled going to church because “Church is a very big scam!”

Many Christians have viewed the post as the main reason he doesn’t fear God. They say, he left the body of Christ and the Assembly of Brethren and the devil took over his life.

Ikechukwu Enwere, a citizen of Delta State residents in Asaba, in his reaction said the man’s life changed for the worse because he stopped worshipping God. The 10 years of not worshiping God is 10 years of living a sinful life, he said.

“Well, I’m still saying that his rough life started after living church because he no longer fear of going to hell fire.

Devil came and took over his life, making him to live deeper in evil.

“People tell you that church is a scam because the devil want to destroy them; he stops them from going close to their Maker. Watch out! You will now see that this man with time, he will go back to God. Before, he regretted going to church and stopped, now following the crisis he is facing, he will regret leaving God and will desire to go back to him.

Bishop Enrich Iritevwobor of Resigners’ Assembly while regretting that Ogbonna fell into such temptation of raping a girl leading to her death, he said nobody is above temptation of the eyes, hands and sex organs until the person is disciplined him or herself.

For him, Church is not a scam and can never be a scam. If he had allowed the spirit of God he would have been living a better life (2cor.5:17).

“The lesson here to Nigerian youth: They should not be carried away with things of this world and they should not be overtaken by people’s promises to help or not. They should be morally sound..

‘On the late favor Agbro, she should have not taken her life. We were told she took her life after endlessly waiting for N50,000 Ogbonna promised to give to her. The youth should know that people can promise and fail. Never trust on man’s promises.

“The truth is no matter how parent monitors their children they cannot be with them always. Trauma is dangerous. A 20yrs old girl should know how to relate issues very well with whom she trust. I think there is a communication gap between her and her parents. Let’s draw our kids nearer and be good friends with them even if they are old enough to take decisions on their own

“I join other Nigerians in calling for justice for the late Favour. Ogbonna didn’t do well by not fulfilling his promises after the girl has forgiven him. He would have taken care of her, feed her, give her the money 50k and encourage her. If he had done so, she wouldn’t have taken her own life. She felt cheated, battered, hurt, humiliated and killed. So, she felt worthless to live.

Now she is dead left huge hospital bill for the parents. So, Odogwu should pay the bill because it’s his fault. He didn’t pay 50k, he should pay 50 million, said the clergy.

On his part, Enwere advised youth to use their youthful days and strength to serve God because the millions of naira they are pursuing, at the end of life, all is vanity.

“People should live good life and follow God rather than chasing money the wrong way, else money will come but your soul will perish.”

“As for the girl Favour, let other girls learn from what happened to her. Looking at how she dressed and advertised herself online you will wonder if she was truly the virgin she claimed to be.

She chose wrong friends that influenced her life negatively. Let others learn from her and stop finding money the wrong way.

“Why will she leave her parents in Warri, without informing them of her movement and reaching Asaba, she accepted to follow Odogwu to his hotel room even though a virgin just because she needed help. This girl is finding money in a wrong way. She would have still get the learning online?

Other parents should equally learn from Favour’s parents, paying more attention to the their sons and daughters lives and their sources of making money and try to encourage them if it’s good or stop them if it is bad, he concluded.
