Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has been elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). She secured victory after defeating two other senior legal practitioners in the association’s 2026 national officers’ election.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), Aham Ejelam, SAN, announced the results on Sunday at the NBA National Secretariat in Abuja. The electoral process had previously faced delays due to technical complications and a targeted cyberattack.

Badejo-Okusanya achieved 12,317 votes, accounting for 47.18 per cent of the total votes cast. She surpassed her primary challenger, Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who received 7,934 votes (30.39 percent), and the third candidate, Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who polled 5,855 votes (22.43 percent).
The ECNBA chairman confirmed that 26,106 votes were recorded in total. Following her victory, Badejo-Okusanya will commence a two-year tenure, leading the association from 2026 to 2028.
This election marks a historic milestone, as Badejo-Okusanya becomes the second female president in the history of the association. She succeeds Priscilla Kuye, who served as the NBA leader from 1991 to 1992.
