The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has begun the process of removing 100,000 companies from Nigeria’s corporate register as it intensifies efforts to enforce compliance with statutory filing requirements under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the Commission said the exercise, designated, Batch 6, targets companies that have failed to file annual returns and other mandatory statutory documents.

The affected companies have been given a 90-day window to regularise their filings or risk being struck off the register.

The Commission said the exercise is being conducted in accordance with Section 692 (3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020, which empowers it to remove inactive or non-compliant companies from its register.

“The affected companies are advised to file all outstanding annual returns, including Persons with Significant Control (PSC) or Beneficial Ownership information, and regularise their records within ninety (90) days from the date of this notice,” the Commission said.

According to the regulator, the list of the 100,000 affected companies has been published on its official website for public access.

Companies that complete the compliance process are required to submit evidence to the Commission through its designated email address, [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]),for verification.

The Commission warned that companies that fail to meet the deadline will be removed from the register without any further notification.

“Companies that fail to comply within the stipulated timeline shall be struck off the Register without further notice,” it said.

The latest exercise forms part of CAC’s ongoing drive to improve the integrity of Nigeria’s corporate register by removing dormant and non-compliant entities while strengthening transparency around beneficial ownership disclosures.

Business owners and directors have been advised to verify whether their companies are listed among the affected entities and take immediate steps to meet the regulatory requirements before the deadline expires.
