The commissioning of six major road projects in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State is expected to stimulate local commerce, reduce transportation costs, improve access to markets and social services, and attract fresh investments, Governor Uba Sani has said.

The projects include five township roads in Kwoi—Audu Tilo Road, Sabon Gari Road, Doctor Sani Road, Hospital Road and Kpop Ham Palace Road—as well as the strategic Kwoi–Gora Road. The governor said the infrastructure will ease the movement of farmers, traders and residents while strengthening economic and social activities across the area.

Speaking during the inauguration on Wednesday, Uba Sani said the completion of the projects fulfilled a promise he made during the groundbreaking ceremony in September last year, describing it as evidence of his administration’s commitment to delivering on its pledges.

“By the grace of God and through the dedication of our team, we have returned to redeem that pledge. Nothing strengthens the bond between a government and its people more than promises fulfilled,” he said.

The governor noted that Jaba Local Government had gone more than 20 years without the completion of a single kilometre of road, describing the neglect as inconsistent with the principles of fairness, equity and justice.

He said his administration was determined to reverse that trend through an infrastructure programme designed to spread development evenly across Kaduna State.

According to him, the state government has initiated 150 road projects covering more than 1,355 kilometres across the state’s 23 local government areas, with the majority already completed.

Uba Sani stressed that the completed roads represent more than physical infrastructure, saying they are symbols of inclusive governance aimed at ensuring that no community is left behind in the delivery of democratic dividends.

He explained that the Kwoi township roads would improve mobility, facilitate access to schools and healthcare facilities, strengthen commercial activities, and reduce the burden of transportation for farmers and traders.

The governor recalled that the Kwoi–Gora Road had long been associated with severe hardship, particularly during the rainy season when erosion and poor road conditions disrupted movement, isolated communities, increased transport costs and limited access to essential services.

He expressed confidence that the rehabilitated road would strengthen economic and social interactions, improve emergency response, facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce and create broader opportunities for investment and development in Jaba Local Government Area.

The commissioning marks the first major road infrastructure delivery in Jaba in over two decades, ending years of neglect and opening a new chapter for economic growth and connectivity in the predominantly agrarian area.
