ValueJet has announced that it is preparing to welcome Boeing aircraft into its fleet, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s growth and reaffirming its commitment to expanding capacity, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering an even better travel experience for its passengers.

The introduction of the Boeing aircraft represents the next phase in ValueJet’s evolution. Since commencing commercial operations with its fleet of CRJ aircraft, ValueJet has established a strong reputation for safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, successfully connecting passengers across Nigeria and West Africa.

The CRJ fleet has been instrumental in the airline’s growth, enabling the launch of multiple domestic and regional routes while consistently delivering the quality service and on-time performance that passengers have come to expect.

Building on this solid foundation, ValueJet is now strategically expanding its fleet with the introduction of Boeing aircraft to increase capacity, support its growing domestic and regional network, and meet the rising demand for air travel.

The CRJ aircraft has served as the ideal aircraft for ValueJet’s domestic and regional operations, delivering reliable and efficient service. The introduction of the Boeing 737 will enable the airline to carry more passengers and cargo, fly longer distances, and expand its network across Africa.

As part of preparations for the fleet expansion, ValueJet’s aircraft maintenance engineers are currently undergoing an intensive Boeing technical training programme in Lagos, delivered by Boeing as part of its partnership with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The programme equips engineers with in-depth knowledge of the Boeing 737 Next Generation (737NG) aircraft, covering avionics, airframe, powerplant, electrical systems, maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and operational best practices aligned with European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards.

Speaking on the development, Omololu Majekodunmi, the Managing Director and Accountable Officer of ValueJet,  described the planned fleet expansion as a defining moment in the airline’s journey.

“The arrival of Boeing aircraft into our fleet represents an exciting new chapter for ValueJet. Since commencing operations with our CRJ aircraft, we have remained focused on building a safe, reliable, and customer-centric airline. As we prepare to induct the Boeing aircraft, we are also investing in our people by ensuring our engineers receive world-class training that will enable us to maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence. This investment positions us for the next phase of our growth and reinforces our commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience.”

Also commenting on the development,
Adekunle Soname, the Chairman of ValueJet,  said the arrival of the Boeing aircraft would unlock exciting opportunities for the airline’s regional expansion strategy.

“The introduction of the Boeing aircraft is more than a fleet expansion; it is a strategic investment in the future of ValueJet. These aircraft will significantly enhance our capacity and range, enabling us to connect more African cities while supporting trade, tourism, and economic integration across the continent. We are building an airline that will proudly connect Nigeria with Africa and beyond.”

With the arrival of the Boeing aircraft, ValueJet plans to further expand its regional and international network by introducing services to Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire, Libreville in Gabon, Douala in Cameroon, as well as destinations in Kenya, South Africa, and more.

These new routes will be operated with the Boeing aircraft and form part of the airline’s long-term strategy to strengthen connectivity across Africa and provide travellers with more seamless travel options.

ValueJet currently operates an expanding network of domestic routes connecting Lagos with Abuja, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Calabar, Kano, Jos, Benin City, and Gateway International Airport, Iperu. The airline also serves regional destinations, including Accra and Banjul, providing passengers with convenient and reliable connectivity across West Africa.

The planned expansion reflects ValueJet’s ambition to become one of Africa’s leading regional carriers while contributing to the growth of tourism, commerce, and investment across the continent.
