Travellers from 63 countries and territories outside the European Union and the Schengen Area will still be able to enter Germany without a visa in 2026 for short visits.

Under Germany’s current entry rules, travellers from these countries can stay for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. The visa exemption applies to trips for tourism, business meetings, family visits and other short-term purposes.

However, the exemption does not allow visitors to take up paid employment while in Germany. Anyone intending to work or remain in the country beyond the permitted period must apply for the appropriate visa or residence permit, depending on their nationality.

In some cases, nationals of visa-exempt countries may also be eligible to apply for certain residence permits after arriving in Germany, provided they meet the country’s immigration requirements.
