The Flight Dispatchers Association of Nigeria (FLIDAN) has officially announced its 2026 Annual Conference, themed “Safety and Efficiency: The Flight Dispatchers’ Role,” the conference is designed to provide a strategic platform for stakeholders across Nigeria’s aviation industry to examine the evolving responsibilities of Flight Dispatchers in promoting safe, efficient, and sustainable flight operations.

The event scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Annex Training Hall, Lagos is expected to attract an impressive gathering of aviation regulators, airline operators, flight dispatchers, pilots, aviation safety professionals, air traffic management experts, training institutions, industry stakeholders, academics, aviation students, and members of the media.

Participants will engage in insightful discussions on the growing importance of flight dispatch operations within an increasingly dynamic and technology-driven aviation environment.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Daniel Ayuba, the President of the Flight Dispatchers Association of Nigeria, said that as the aviation industry continues to evolve through rapid technological advancements, increased air traffic, heightened regulatory requirements, and more complex operational challenges, the role of the Flight Dispatcher has become more indispensable than ever.

He said Flight Dispatchers serve as critical operational partners to pilots, ensuring effective flight planning, operational control, weather monitoring, fuel optimization, regulatory compliance, and real-time decision-making that contribute directly to the safety and efficiency of every flight.

The 2026 FLIDAN Annual Conference, according to him, aims to stimulate robust dialogue on key industry issues, including operational excellence, aviation safety management systems, collaborative decision-making, technological innovations in flight operations, human factors, regulatory compliance, capacity development, and the future of flight dispatch practice in Nigeria.

The FLIDAN President emphasized the significance of the event and the profession within the aviation value chain saying “Flight Dispatchers are an indispensable part of every successful flight operation. They work behind the scenes, making critical operational decisions that directly contribute to flight safety and efficiency.

This conference provides a unique opportunity for regulators, operators, and aviation professionals to collectively examine how dispatch professionals can continue to strengthen aviation safety, improve operational performance, embrace innovation, and support the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry.” He said.

According to Ayuba, the conference also reflects FLIDAN’s commitment to promoting professional excellence, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and stronger collaboration among aviation stakeholders.

The conference programme will feature keynote addresses by distinguished aviation leaders, expert panel discussions, technical presentations, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and facilitate the exchange of practical ideas and best practices.

An electronic statement issued by the General Secretary of FLIDAN, Mrs. Victoria Adegbe explained that participants will benefit from discussions on emerging global trends, operational challenges, regulatory developments, technological innovations, and practical solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and resilience of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The conference, she said, will contribute significantly to strengthening professional standards, enhancing operational competence, and reinforcing the culture of safety that remains the cornerstone of global aviation.

Victoria reaffirms FLIDAN’s unwavering commitment to advancing professionalism, promoting continuous capacity development, encouraging operational excellence, and supporting the implementation of international best practices that will contribute to the sustainable development of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
