The Lagos State Forum of Local Government Chairmen of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has unveiled plans to intensify grassroots mobilisation and membership recruitment across the state as part of efforts to position the party for victory in the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a strategic meeting of the forum held on Thursday, where party leaders reviewed the progress of the APM and outlined strategies for the next electoral cycle.
In the communiqué signed by Olanrewaju Ayinde, chairman of the APM Lagos State Forum of Local Government Chairmen, the party said it would focus on strengthening its structures across all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs), extending its reach to wards and polling units.
“The Forum reaffirms its commitment to aggressive membership recruitment, voter mobilization, and the consolidation of party structures across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State down to every single wards, and polling units. We are determined to build a formidable, grassroots-driven movement capable of delivering decisive victory for the APM in 2027,” the communiqué stated.
The forum also expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos, Laja Adeoye, commending what it described as his efforts in establishing the APM as a credible political force in the state.
It said members were convinced of Adeoye’s capacity to provide good governance and lead the party to victory in the next governorship election.
The party further appreciated its national leadership, including its presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed, and national chairman Yusuf Dantalle, for providing guidance and support to the party.
In addition, the forum praised the party’s senatorial, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly candidates, urging them to sustain their campaigns and continue developing people-centred legislative proposals.
The APM used the occasion to appeal to Lagos residents seeking an alternative political platform to join the party, describing itself as a vehicle for accountability, good governance and sustainable development.
The forum also extended an invitation to opposition parties in the state, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), to collaborate with the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the communiqué, such collaboration is necessary to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which it accused of failing to provide effective governance in Lagos.
“The Forum extends an open invitation to all leaders of opposition political parties in Lagos State, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), to collaborate with the APM. Together, we can rescue Lagos from the continued misgovernance of the ruling APC,” the party said.
It assured Lagos residents that the 2027 elections would offer an opportunity for a new direction in governance, adding that the party remained united and focused on securing electoral success in the state.
