…Says Southern president must complete two terms

Ali Modu Sheriff, former Governor Borno State, has told Atiku Abubakar, the 2027 Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to relax and allow the Southern part of the Country to complete two terms as president.

Sheriff, who is a Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-Eastern part of the Country, shared his perspective on the 2027 Presidential Poll, telling the likes of Atiku Abubakar that “it is not the turn of the North”, saying the ADC Presidential Candidate is on his own.

He stated this during an exclusive interview with Channels Television in Abuja on Monday

However, during the interview, Ali Modu Sheriff, while assessing the Presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisted that
“the Presidency is the turn of the South and not the turn of the North yet, and so former vice president Atiku Abubakar is on his own.”

The former Borno State governor said since ex-President Muhammadu Buhari finished eight-year tenure as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it would an injustice to any presidents from Northern extraction to compete the 2027 Presidential poll with the Southerners.

Sheriff, while indirectly campaigning for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, incumbent President of Nigeria, who is of South-Western Nigeria descent, said, “It’s not our (Northern part) turn now; he (Atiku) is on his own, because it’s the turn of the South, Buhari just finished eight years”.

Recently, several political leaders in Nigeria have crisscrossed various political parties in search of a presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The main political gladiators among them are former President Atiku Abubakar, a Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State as well as Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State, who are both Presidential Candidate and running mate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
