Real Madrid have completed the signing of Netherlands defender Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan in a deal reportedly worth €20 million.
The Spanish giants confirmed on Sunday that the attacking right-back has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until 30 June 2030.
“(We) have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Denzel Dumfries, who will be with our club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030,” Real Madrid said in a statement.
The 30-year-old arrives after representing the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Dutch were eliminated by Morocco on penalties in the Round of 32.
Dumfries is expected to strengthen Madrid’s options at right-back, providing competition for England international Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Dutch defender joined Inter Milan from PSV Eindhoven in 2021 and enjoyed a successful spell in Italy, winning two Serie A titles while also helping the Nerazzurri reach the UEFA Champions League final on two occasions.
Dumfries becomes Real Madrid’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and Ibrahima Konaté.
Madrid, now managed by Portuguese veteran José Mourinho following the departure of Álvaro Arbeloa, are rebuilding their squad after enduring two successive seasons without winning a major trophy.
The club have also extended the contract of veteran defender Antonio Rüdiger until 2027 after the departures of Dani Carvajal and David Alaba at the end of last season.
