BusinessDay Media on Thursday celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a milestone that reflects a quarter-century of journalism, resilience, and influence in Nigeria’s business and economic landscape.

Held under the theme “25 Years of Shaping Impactful Decisions,” the celebration brought together staff, management, long-serving subscribers, and key stakeholders to reflect on the newspaper’s journey since its launch in 2001.

Speaking at the event, Lolade Akinmurele, the editor, described the anniversary as both a moment of gratitude and optimism, saying BusinessDay has provided an opportunity to work with exceptional talent while remaining committed to impactful journalism.

“We’re all here to celebrate 25 years of BusinessDay, and I am more than excited for what the future holds,” he said. “The future is bright for us because we’ve got a very visionary leader.”

Akinmurele praised Publisher Frank Aigbogun’s leadership, describing him as one of his greatest mentors and saying his discipline, consistency, and work ethic continue to inspire those around him.

“There is so much you can learn from him, his tenacity, hard work, and the way he constantly pushes himself,” he said.

Addressing employees, Aigbogun said the anniversary belonged to everyone who had contributed to BusinessDay’s journey over the last 25 years, regardless of how long they had been part of the organisation.

“Whatever it is that we celebrate today is a celebration of everyone. No one single person could have achieved what we all have achieved,” he said. “Congratulations to everyone.”

He added that beyond celebrating the organisation, the occasion was also an opportunity to appreciate the lives of everyone who had been part of the BusinessDay story.

The event also recognised employees who have served the organisation for more than a decade, alongside long-standing members whose support has spanned much of the newspaper’s history, including subscribers who have remained with the publication since its founding in 2001.

Over the past 25 years, BusinessDay has established itself as one of Nigeria’s leading business newspapers, providing reporting and analysis on the economy, financial markets, corporate affairs, public policy, and governance while helping readers make informed decisions in an evolving economic landscape.
