Barely two months after entering Nigeria’s crowded e-commerce market, digital marketplace 2Clicks Nigeria says it has surpassed 100,000 downloads and more than 100,000 active product listings, a milestone it believes reflects growing demand for affordable online selling platforms among small businesses.
The company said its rapid growth has been driven by a business model that allows sellers to list products free of charge, a move that is intensifying competition in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital marketplace sector, where many platforms charge listing or subscription fees.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Bakare Olaoluwa, country manager of 2Clicks Nigeria, said the platform reached Google’s top 10 shopping applications in Nigeria within three weeks of its public launch, describing the early traction as evidence that entrepreneurs are seeking lower-cost digital channels to reach customers.

According to him, 2Clicks was built to remove one of the biggest barriers facing Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing unlimited free product listings while giving businesses access to professional digital marketing tools.
“We believe millions of Nigerian entrepreneurs should not have to pay compulsory listing fees before they can sell online. Our goal is to reduce the cost of doing business digitally and make online commerce accessible to everyone,” Olaoluwa said.
He explained that while sellers can subscribe to optional premium services to increase the visibility of their products, access to the marketplace’s core features will remain free.
According to him, the strategy is designed to help businesses expand beyond their immediate communities without spending heavily on digital advertising.
Olaoluwa said the platform also places strong emphasis on trust and security by requiring every seller to complete identity verification using either the National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN) before being approved.
He added that sellers who complete additional verification receive verified badges, while buyers can report suspicious listings through a structured customer support system.
To improve user experience, Olaoluwa said the marketplace integrates direct WhatsApp messaging between buyers and sellers and supports high-definition photographs and video product listings to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
He added that sellers also have access to free business performance analytics, location-based searches and property mapping tools designed to improve visibility and customer engagement.

The emergence of new entrants offering free listing models could reshape competition in Nigeria’s e-commerce market by forcing established platforms to rethink pricing strategies and seller acquisition models.
With MSMEs accounting for more than 90 percent of businesses in Nigeria and contributing significantly to employment and economic output, reducing the cost of digital commerce is increasingly viewed as critical to expanding participation in the country’s digital economy.
For 2Clicks, sustaining its early momentum will depend on converting its growing user base into active buyers and sellers while maintaining the free-access model that has helped fuel its rapid rise during its first eight weeks in the market.
