President Bola Tinubu is to unveil a commemorative book in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari during activities marking the first anniversary of Buhari’s passing, the Central Planning Committee has announced.

Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists in Abuja on preparations for the remembrance programme.

Recall that Buhari died on July 13, 2025, while receiving medical treatment at a clinic in London. His body was flown back to Nigeria, and he was laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, with a state funeral and full military honors.

Mustapha said the anniversary would bring together Buhari’s family, friends, former associates, public officials and admirers for prayers and reflections on the late President’s life and legacy.

According to him, the programme will feature interfaith and interdenominational prayer sessions, reflecting Buhari’s commitment to unity, faith and national cohesion.

He added that a select number of people who worked closely with the former President would deliver tributes and recount their personal experiences of his leadership and service to the nation.

Mustapha said the highlight of the event would be the public presentation of a book titled, ‘Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari’, which President Tinubu will unveil as the Special Guest of Honour.

He explained that the publication contains messages from heads of state, diplomats, political leaders and other members of the international community, many of whom described Buhari as a leader known for simplicity, resilience and integrity following his death at the age of 82 on July 13, 2025.

“The book is neither for sale nor for fundraising. It is for free distribution,” he said.

He noted that religious leaders from different faiths would lead prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul, expressing hope that the remembrance would comfort the late President’s family while inspiring Nigerians to preserve his legacy of discipline, patriotism and selfless service.

Mustapha also appealed to the media to mobilise Nigerians to participate in the nationwide prayers and remembrance activities in honour of the late former President.
