Dikko Umaru Radda, Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum and Governor of Katsina State, on Monday, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms and visionary leadership aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and prosperity.
Governor Radda spoke during the commissioning of the National Community Food Bank (North-West) and other landmark projects in Jigawa State by Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria.
The First Lady inaugurated the National Community Food Bank, described as the first of its kind in the country, alongside the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy, the rehabilitated 29-kilometre Hadejia–Garun Gabas Road, Oluremi Tinubu Clinics and other strategic projects designed to improve food security, healthcare, education and infrastructure in the region.
Describing the Food Bank as a historic intervention, Governor Radda said it demonstrated the First Lady’s commitment to tackling food insecurity and supporting vulnerable Nigerians.
“This initiative is the first of its kind in the history of our nation. It reflects Your Excellency’s compassion, vision and unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians, particularly the most vulnerable members of our society,” he said.
The Katsina governor also praised President Tinubu for implementing reforms to strengthen the nation’s economy.
“We equally appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the courageous reforms and visionary leadership he continues to provide in building a stronger, more prosperous and resilient Nigeria”, Governor Radda stated.
He further commended Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for delivering impactful projects, saying the achievements reflected prudent resource management and a commitment to improving citizens’ lives.
Governor Namadi described the Food Bank initiative as a timely intervention that would improve access to nutritious food for vulnerable households and boost child nutrition across the country.
“The National Community Food Bank Initiative is a timely intervention that will not only bring food resources closer to the people who need them most but will also contribute to our quest for better nutrition indices among children,” Namadi said.
He added that the initiative aligns with the constitutional responsibility of the government to ensure adequate food for all citizens and supports the administration’s human capital development agenda.
The event was attended by the Minister of State for the FCT, Hajiya Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure; Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad; and the governors of Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi States.
