Honda Automobile Western Africa Ltd. (HAWA) has partnered with Nigerian Breweries Plc to donate a new made-in-Nigeria Honda HR-V to the winner of this year’s Maltina Teacher of the Year Award, marking the first time in the competition’s 12-year history that the overall winner will receive a new vehicle.

The winner, who will be announced at the award ceremony in October, will also receive five years of free scheduled servicing and a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, a package designed to lower the cost of vehicle ownership while providing long-term after-sales support.

Speaking at the flag-off of the competition in Lagos, Daisuke Mita, managing director of Honda Automobile Western Africa Ltd., described teachers as professionals who dedicate their lives to shaping the nation’s future, adding that the company was honoured to support the initiative.

“By presenting the winner with a Honda HR-V, along with five years of free service and warranty, we hope to provide a meaningful reward that enhances mobility, convenience and quality of life,” Mita said.

According to him, the initiative aligns with Honda’s global vision of being a company that society wants to exist by creating value, supporting communities and making positive contributions to people’s lives.

He noted that teachers remain among the most important contributors to society because they nurture future leaders, inspire innovation and play a vital role in national development.

The company said the Honda HR-V, valued at N41.5 million was selected for the award because of its combination of premium comfort, advanced safety technologies, fuel efficiency and practicality, making it suitable for the everyday mobility needs of teachers.

Honda added that the SUV offers a spacious interior, modern styling, advanced safety features and the brand’s reputation for reliability and durability. The package also includes five years of complimentary servicing and a five-year warranty to eliminate routine maintenance costs and provide peace of mind.

The vehicle is assembled at Honda Automobile Western Africa’s plant in Ota, Ogun State, and is supported by the company’s nationwide after-sales network.

Honda said the partnership underscores its commitment to education, community development and social impact, while reinforcing its broader goal of improving lives through innovation, mobility and meaningful engagement with society as it continues to expand its presence in Nigeria
